What is CrossFit?

Let Us Tell You About CrossFit

CrossFit is the most effective, fastest growing strength and conditioning training method in existence. CrossFit is based on a workout system of constantly varied functional movements performed at a high level of intensity.

Functional movements are natural, multi-joint movements, performed from core to extremity. A typical session lasts 60 minutes -hard and fast- conducted in a group with other CrossFitters which creates an environment of team support, motivation, accountability and fun. Each class is led by a CrossFit certified coach who will ensure proper form, positioning, mechanics and motivation for each and every member.

CrossFit specializes in NOT specializing. Our goal in NOT specializing is to become proficient in a wide range of skills rather than to be good at only one skill, sport or activity. We are training to become better at REAL LIFE and anything that it may throw at us. While a marathon runner may be great at endurance, he or she would lack strength. Likewise a power lifter is very strong but, lacks cardiovascular endurance, and so on. However, nature punishes the specialist. That is why our training focuses on the 10 General Physical Skills.

The 10 General Physical Skills that we train and improve in are

  1. Cardiovascular/respiratory endurance – The ability of body systems to gather, process and deliver oxygen
  2. Stamina – The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store and utilize energy
  3. Strength – The ability of a muscular unity or combination of units to apply force
  4. Flexibility – The ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint
  5. Power – The ability of a muscular unit or combination of units to apply maximum force at minimal time
  6. Speed – The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement
  7. Coordination – The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns in a singular distinct movement
  8. Agility – The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another
  9. Balance – The ability to control the placement of the bodies center of gravity in relation to it’s support base
  10. Accuracy – The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity

One does not need to be good at any of these skills when you start CrossFit. The goal is to help you to improve in each of these skills throughout your fitness journey. You will not find a gym full of machines. You will find people that genuinely care about helping you to get better!

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We use the best movements from multiple disciplines to form an exercise methodology that is unparalleled in results. We have used the same workouts for grandmothers and college athletes alike. We scale load and intensity to make the workout makes sense for the individual.
