CrossFit Combustion History

Our Founder

Oldcoach

Matthew was a standout basketball player in high school and went on to play at the collegiate level. After graduating from the University of North Alabama and the ROTC program, he became a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. One of his proudest is having served as a member of the elite 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) for nearly 5 years. He was promoted to the rank of Captain before he finished his service tenure.

After his military career, he had much success in the commercial trucking industry and the banking/financial sector. He is currently a proud member of the Spring Hill Fire Department and owner of CrossFit Combustion. He is also a certified CrossFit Weightlifting, CrossFit Kids, and CrossFit Level 1 & 2 trainer.

While Matt has sold the business, he is still an active member and a spotlight coach for special events. His culture is still alive and well at Combustion and his passion for helping people improve their health lives on in the new ownership.

Meet The Muchachos

Colloquially known as “The Muchachos” Mike, Matt, and Justin are three great friends who met several years ago at Combustion. While each has their own story about what brought them to Combustion as an athlete, they are united in their passion for making fitness a central piece of their lifestyles.

Starting at the gym as novice CrossFit athletes, each eventually transitioned into coaching around 2017 and found an even deeper passion in helping others on the journey that molded each of them into who they’ve become.

Fast forward to late 2021 and Coach Boyd came to them with an opportunity to take the reigns and lead Combustion forward. It was an easy choice, as they each knew that for Combustion to continue being such an amazing community, it needed leaders who cared enough to dedicate themselves to it.
